As I have said before on this forum I have taken great efforts to ban myself from local bookies, up to 20 miles around, but this is a short term fix as we all know, you only have to visit another town, you walk past one and think i'll just pop in for a quck game, and come up 2 horus later hundreds of pounds down
Couldn't find my bank card so I logged on to freeze it, and they have put a new freeze in place "block gambling transactions" - not only can you freeze them, but you cannot turn them back on without ringing the bank and then waiting 72 hours. I can't even imagine being in a position where I would want to ring up a bank and tell them that I am desperate to gamble :-)
I strongly suspect this will be rolled out across all banks and it has to be a godsend for many. I can now take a trip into a strange town without worrying that I am going to end up spunking my money into Ladbrokes.
Dead clever isnt it?
Monzo and Starling do this now.
Think it should be law.
Combined with Gamstop, it really is going to help the UK.
Why this wasn't a thing many many years ago i will never know. The technology to do it has been around just never used!
I'm all for it, and it's a huge step forward
Great idea
