Doesn't have to all be about gambling does it?

I do enjoy filling my spare time with watching films. Love films, been a movie buff for years, know loads of trivia, seen all sorts from kids films to foreign and extreme.

Modern films released recently tend to be be rubbish. Especially if they are woke or try to inject SJW culture or political messages. Still, seems to be a couple of good films still seep through to watch that are new but not enough. I tend then to revisit the classics and films from the past 50 years.

Whilst I probably have seen most recommendations you could make, does anyone have any suggestions for me of good films to watch? I'm using YouTube at the moment with channels that give retrospectives about old films which makes me think 'yeah, not seen that in ages, I'll watch that'. Cracking on in my years so the memory isn't that to films I have missed or should watch again. Help me out peeps. What can you recommend?

Stand by me

The Goonies

dusk till dawn

My three that I always end up re watching. You've most likely seen them though.

my only recommendation that I give to watch is DARK on Netflix. It's a German production so if you can watch it in German with English's subtitles you will not regret it. Honestly hands down best TV show/film I've ever seen. I really wish I could forget it all and watch it again.

Ghostbusters will be always be my favourite film of all time, i feel the need to point out i'm talking about the original Ghostbusters and not that absolute woke piece of crap reboot.

Also Sean of the dead is a film i go back to again and again and it never gets old to me.

Primal Fear is quite good if you have never watched it.

The Bridge (the original not the american remake) is a series and not a film but is very good.

For something light hearted The Van is a good film.

Stand by me is a great pick by jimboscooker.

The Johnny Worricker Trilogy is also fantastic and is not all that well known and well worth a watch.

There is also a BBC film by Stephen Poliakoff called Shooting the Past. I'd be the first to admit that Stephen Poliakoff's stuff is normally far to arty and fluffy for my taste however Shooting the Past is an absolute masterpiece of television scene setting, accompanied by a clever musical score and brilliant acting from Lindsay Duncan, Timothy Spall and Liam Cunningham. There are scenes in this drama that will never leave you. That is the test of truly great filmmaking. If you have never seen it you have really missed out.

Hope you find something you like.

Alternatively you could purchase a box set of Chipmonkz greatest hits. The running time is around nine seconds.

If you like Youtube there are about a million videos of US folks trying British candy and they are the second worst thing on Youtube ^^^^see above for reason that they are not the worst^^^^. Of course you need a pair of Americans who are a dumb as hell with a female participant with an IQ below her shoe size and measurements of 58-58-58 who needs  more candy like a wildfire needs petrol. They of course love Cadburys chocolate and hate Irn Bru like the 999,999 folks who made a video before them.

Just finsihed Warrior Season 2 and I'm up to date for Resident Alien  Jimboscooker  so I'll have a look at Dark as I need a new TV series. To everyone, if you like dark humour in a series then I highly recommend Resident Alien. It's very funny. In its first season now and I think on Sky (I download everything I watch).

I'm going to take on The Bridge, The Van and Shooting the Past this week  pokersmasher  because I've not seen any of them! Good going!

Got both films on my hard drive  jam1983  but well worth doing the Cornetto trilogy in soon.

Nice. Enjoy it. Honestly I couldn't stop watching after each episode. Make sure you watch in German with English subs and not the shitty English dub over.

Turns out I've seen The Van.....once about 5 years ago. I remember it being good so I will watch again this weekend.

As for Dark, well in there  Jimboscooker  . Three episodes in and very intriguing. They must have plenty planned as they don't dwell on the immediate mystery too long so you have a good idea of what is going on.....without actually knowing! This is now my series until I've caught up.

I'll get The Bridge watched this weekend but more film suggestions please.

Yeah and imo it only gets better and better when the story and characters develop. You had goosebumps yet? I found nearly every episode gave me them. Lol.

It's got a haunting score and the 80's tracks are awesome. Some really creepy scene building tension. Not goose bumps yet. You can tell a program is good if the world around you disappears and you are engrossed. I have theories already but I don't want anything spoilt.

Yeah it's the only TV show I've never skipped the opening song for lol. Yeah I found I just lost track of time. Planned to watch 1 episode and ended up watching 3 kind of thing.
